Канада надасть Україні військову допомогу на 2 мільярди доларів у новому фінансовому році

Canada has reaffirmed its unwavering support for Ukraine in its confrontation with the Russian Federation and announced a new military aid package amounting to 2 billion dollars, which will be provided in the 2026-2027 fiscal year. This was revealed on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Operation UNIFIER Extended to 2029

Canada’s Minister of National Defence, David McGinty, announced the extension of Operation UNIFIER for another three years, until 2029. This mission involves the participation of Canadian military personnel in the training and capacity building of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Under the updated mandate, the number of Canadian Armed Forces personnel involved in this operation will be increased, allowing for a more responsive approach to the needs of the Ukrainian side.

“According to the renewed mandate, the number of CAF personnel dedicated to the operation will increase, providing greater flexibility and allowing Canada to further adapt and respond to Ukraine’s changing operational needs. The continuation of Operation UNIFIER enables CAF members to continue training Ukrainian recruits and commanders.”

Military and Economic Support, New Sanctions

As part of the military aid, Canada will transfer over 400 units of armored vehicles to Ukraine, including 66 light armored vehicles 6s from General Dynamics and 383 Senator armored vehicles manufactured by Roshel. The planned support is based on the principle of continuously providing critically important military equipment and capabilities to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

In addition to military aid, the Canadian government will provide an additional 20 million dollars to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine.

Canada has also announced new sanctions against 21 individuals, 53 organizations, and 100 vessels of the so-called “shadow fleet” of Russia. Additionally, a reduced price cap on Russian crude oil has been established – now set at 44.10 dollars per barrel instead of the previous 47.60 dollars.

It is worth noting that the fiscal year in Canada runs from April 1 of the current year to March 31 of the following year. In December 2025, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney also announced additional economic assistance to Ukraine amounting to 2.5 billion dollars.
