Rescuers emphasize: do not leave windows open for ventilation if there are cats at home

In Kyiv, on Radunska Street, rescuers freed a cat that found itself in a dangerous trap due to an open window. The animal took advantage of its owners’ absence and tried to squeeze through the gap but got stuck, unable to free itself.

The loud cries of the frightened cat were heard by neighbors, who immediately called the rescue team. The specialists arrived promptly and freed the animal, which was already in critical condition. Veterinarians are now fighting for the life of the ginger cat.
“The cat found itself in a typical trap — it tried to climb through the window gap but got stuck and could no longer move. The animal was extracted and urgently hospitalized in critical condition. Veterinarians are currently fighting for the life of the little ginger one,” commented the Kyiv Animal Rescue Group.
The Danger of Open Windows for Cats
Rescuers note that such incidents happen quite often. Cats, trying to escape through a narrow window opening, get stuck — the animal’s body can become wedged, which can lead to fatal consequences. In most cases, cats do not survive such situations, as there is very little time for rescue.
Animal volunteers urge cat owners not to leave windows open for ventilation unattended. To prevent accidents, it is necessary to install special protective nets and window opening restrictors like “comb” types.
