Traditions and Support in Wartime
Many Kyiv residents and guests of the capital participated in the march, dressed in folk costumes, carrying decorated stars as a symbol of remembrance for those who gave their lives defending Ukraine from Russian aggression. Among the participants were families with children, military personnel, veterans, creative groups, and choirs. They all united around a common goal—to honor the memory of heroes and support one another during this challenging time for the country.

According to the Ivan Honchar Museum, the tradition of holding marches with stars is an ancient Ukrainian custom that takes on special significance in wartime. Such events allow people to feel the support of the community, preserve cultural heritage, and spiritually resist the enemy.
Festive Atmosphere and Caroling at Sofiivska Square
During the march, the mood was uplifted by Kyiv folklore groups “ShchukaRyba” and “Stodivnytsia.” At Sofiivska Square, participants performed the famous carol “Nova Radiсть Stala,” uniting everyone present in song.

“The march is a testament to the resilience of traditions that have endured to this day despite age-old prohibitions. When the enemy tries to destroy the desire to live, we respond with dignity by preserving traditions in the fight for truth.”

Holding such events in the capital is not only a tribute to traditions but also an important step in supporting the morale of Ukrainians during the struggle against the Russian Federation.
