Scale of the Attack and Its Impact on Kyiv’s Infrastructure
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that overnight, Russia launched nearly 500 drones and about 40 missiles, including Kinzhal-type missiles. The main targets of the attacks were the energy and civilian infrastructure of the capital.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba, around 600,000 residents of Kyiv and the region were left without electricity. There are also disruptions in heating and water supply. Critical facilities have been connected to backup power sources, and energy and utility services are working to restore resource supplies.
“Critical facilities have been switched to backup power. Energy and utility services are working on the damaged areas to restore light, heat, and water,” Kuleba wrote.
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko also reported damage to one of the ministry buildings in the capital as a result of the shelling. Due to power outages, the movement of some electric transport has been temporarily suspended, and metro trains on the “red line” are only running between the “Akademmistechko” and “Arsenalna” stations. The interval is 6 minutes. The schedules on the blue and green lines of the metro have not changed.
