Scope of Work and Project Features

The municipal corporation “Kyivavtodor” has announced its readiness to invest over 803.4 million UAH in the restoration of Valeriy Lobanovskyi Avenue, which runs through the Solomianskyi district of the capital. The last major renovation of this infrastructure facility was carried out more than 20 years ago, although the avenue itself was constructed back in 1964.

The project documentation for the renovation has already been developed and approved. The plan includes updating the section from Volodymyr Brozhka Street to Sevastopol Square. The work will involve not only repairing the roadway but also the sidewalks, stormwater drainage, external lighting, and creating modern cycling infrastructure.

Improving Safety and Traffic Capacity

The city administration emphasizes that the major renovation will bring the technical and geometric parameters of the avenue in line with modern standards. The updates are expected to create comfortable and safe conditions for all road users. Special attention will be given to organizing barrier-free spaces: curb heights will be lowered at pedestrian crossings and bike crossings, and tactile navigation will be installed for people with visual impairments.

To increase traffic capacity, separate lanes for vehicles making left turns are planned. This is expected to reduce congestion and improve the traffic situation on the avenue.

“As of today, the area of damage to the roadway on Valeriy Lobanovskyi Avenue is 0.94% of the total asphalt layer covering the highway.”

According to the electronic procurement system, the estimated cost of the reconstruction exceeds 803 million UAH. Experts from the public organization “Passengers of Kyiv” have calculated that currently less than 1% of the asphalt surface of the avenue is damaged. However, the large-scale project encompasses not only the renewal of the asphalt but also a comprehensive improvement of infrastructure for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists.
