Details of the Domestic Violence Case
According to the capital’s police, a 24-year-old woman repeatedly reported to the Desnyansky Police Department about violent actions by her husband. It is noted that the man returned home in a state of alcohol or drug intoxication, provoked arguments, insulted, and humiliated his wife. Eventually, he began to behave aggressively towards his mother-in-law, who tried to protect her daughter.
“The Desnyansky Police Department received multiple reports from a 24-year-old local resident stating that her husband was committing domestic violence. The offender, coming home intoxicated or under the influence of drugs, systematically provoked conflicts during which he insulted and humiliated the woman, and over time began to harm the mother-in-law, who defended her daughter. After arguments, the man would leave the house and stay with his relatives, only to return later seeking reconciliation. However, the situation constantly repeated itself,” the statement reads.
Police Response and Legal Prospects
Law enforcement officers have repeatedly held the man administratively accountable for his actions. Despite this, as well as the obligation to undergo a special program for individuals who commit domestic violence, the defendant’s behavior did not change. Furthermore, he had a previous conviction for drug possession.
Currently, the indictment against the man has been submitted to the Desnyansky District Court of Kyiv. If found guilty, he faces up to two years of imprisonment.
