A new resident has arrived at Kyiv Zoo — a mini pig found in the middle of one of the capital’s streets.
This is reported by Kyiv24
The dwarf piglet was discovered on a busy roadway in Kyiv. The animal was confused, without a collar or any means of identification, and appeared completely helpless. Witnesses noticed the little black-and-white piglet running among the traffic, risking its life.
How the Mini Pig Ended Up at the Zoo
Fortunately, a concerned person was nearby who managed to calm the piglet and take it away from the dangerous section of the road. Since she could not keep the animal at home, the mini pig was taken to Kyiv Zoo. Zoo representatives expressed hope that the true owner of the animal would come forward.
“The little black-and-white piglet was found right in the middle of a busy street. Confused, without a collar, and lacking any identification marks, it looked completely helpless, running right on the roadway. Fortunately, a kind person was nearby who called the little one gently, and it trustingly followed her. The rescuer could not keep the animal herself, so she brought it to us in hopes that the true owner would definitely be found,” said representatives from Kyiv Zoo.
Health Status and Search for the True Owner
Upon arrival at the zoo, veterinarians examined the animal and discovered it had a severe umbilical hernia. The mini pig is currently receiving the necessary medical care to ensure its health and well-being.
Later, a woman came to the zoo claiming to be the owner of this mini pig. However, she was unable to provide any confirming documents or even shared photos with the animal. Because of this, the zoo remains doubtful about her authenticity and continues to search for the true owner.
“After announcements in local chats, a woman came to us who called herself the ‘owner of that pig.’ But without any confirmation, documents, or even shared photos, her request resembled more of a plea to return an object rather than a living being. For now, we hope that the little one actually has another owner who will come forward. Every animal deserves care, protection, and love, not indifference,” the zoo stated.
