Separate Meetings and Next Steps

On April 5, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held separate negotiations with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa. During this meeting, the leaders discussed further cooperation to strengthen security and develop their countries, as well as the situation in the region and possible ways to improve it. Significant attention was also given to the circumstances of Russia’s war against Ukraine and the exchange of military and security experiences between the states.

Zelensky also expressed gratitude to his Syrian counterpart for the support, and in his address, he emphasized the importance of joint efforts for peace and stability.

It is worth noting that the day before, on April 4, the Ukrainian president visited Istanbul, where he held talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and also met with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. These visits were part of Ukraine’s active diplomatic efforts aimed at enhancing security and expanding economic interaction with key partners in the Middle East.

Zelensky emphasized that every nation and region deserves a peaceful life, and Ukraine is ready to deepen cooperation with countries in the region in various formats.
