Pokrovsky Fair at the Ivan Honchar Museum: Workshops and Folk Crafts

On September 27 and 28, the Pokrovsky Fair will take place at the Ivan Honchar Museum, where artisans from all over Ukraine will present unique handmade products. Guests will have the opportunity to purchase artistic items for their homes or choose a valuable gift for their loved ones.

Workshops for Visitors

During the fair, visitors will not only learn about the traditions of Ukrainian crafts but also participate in workshops. Under the guidance of experienced masters, participants will master various techniques for creating products. Special attention will be given to the technique of making flowers and their waxing, working with different types of paper, and creating wax figures. The workshop will be conducted by Olena Mityurina, who specializes in creating replicas of ancient wreaths and restoring authentic samples.

“Visitors will be able to create their own products under the guidance of masters and try traditional techniques. In particular, they will get acquainted with the technique of making and waxing flowers, work with different types of paper, and create several forms of wax figures. The workshop will be conducted by Olena Mityurina, who makes new replicas of ancient wreaths and restores authentic samples.”

Master Tetyana Katrychenko will tell the story of the folk doll and teach how to make toys from fabric scraps. Everyone interested will be able to create their own toy under her guidance.

An interesting addition to the fair will be a workshop on making a bird from bulrush led by expert artist Iryna Kukhar.

Demonstrations of Traditional Crafts

Honored Master of Folk Art of Ukraine Serhiy Radyko will conduct a workshop on sculpting a clay whistle. There will also be demonstration workshops during which visitors can see how craftsmen create clay products, engage in weaving on a loom, weave baskets from willow, demonstrate blacksmithing, kobzar art, and traditional hairstyles and head decorations.

Fair guests will be able to observe the work of masters in real time, learn the secrets of crafts, and acquire unique experiences passed down from generation to generation.
