Ukrainian Experts to Assist in Protecting the Middle East
According to her, Moscow’s cooperation with Tehran regarding attacks on American forces is not surprising. At the same time, Ukraine is ready to provide support to partners in the Persian Gulf to enhance their defense capabilities. Ukrainian drone technology specialists are expected to arrive in the Middle Eastern countries as early as next week to assist in repelling attacks from Iranian drones.
“Reports that Moscow and Tehran are working together to attack American forces should not surprise anyone. Instead, Ukraine is offering assistance to protect our partners in the Persian Gulf countries. This alone shows who your friends are. The EU is also taking action… In response to the need for interceptor drones, we are preparing a new initiative – to act as a kind of ‘mediator’ that will unite Ukraine’s industrial capabilities with the military needs of Middle Eastern countries,” Kallas noted.
Prospects for Cooperation and Limiting Iran
Kaja Kallas emphasized the lack of a clear strategy to end the war in the Middle East and pointed out the weakening of the Iranian regime, stressing that the prolonged conflict negatively affects not only the region but also Europe and the entire world. The EU continues to call for adherence to international law and the protection of civilians.
Reports indicate that Ukrainian specialists are already helping to protect American military bases in Jordan from Iranian attacks using drones. Meanwhile, the US and one of the Persian Gulf countries are negotiating the purchase of Ukrainian interceptor drones to counter Iranian “Shaheds.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky proposed a “quiet exchange” to Middle Eastern countries: Ukraine helps counter Iranian drones in exchange for missiles for air defense systems.
