About Sofia Nersesyan and the Unique Aspect of Her Performance
Sofia has Armenian-Ukrainian heritage, actively engages in volunteer work, and participates in charity concerts. Her song “Motanka” is dedicated to the traditional Ukrainian protective doll that mothers give to newborns. In times of war, this symbol gains special significance, as legend has it that if a child is in danger, the threads of the motanka begin to glow. The song was written by Svitlana Tarabarova.
“The song ‘Motanka’ is about the most powerful Ukrainian talisman that mothers give to their children at birth. During wartime, this takes on even greater significance, as there is a legend that when danger approaches a child, the threads of the motanka glow. It is a manifesto song calling for help from all the children of Ukraine to protect their lives. The song was created by Svitlana Tarabarova,” reads a post on the Facebook page of Espreso.tv.
In the final of the competition, representatives from 18 countries competed. The winner of the 2025 Junior Eurovision was French singer Lou Delos with the song Ce Monde.
