Taxi Driver Arrested in Kyiv for Selling Drugs and Mushrooms to Customers

The taxi driver from Kyiv region, who was arrested in the capital, faces up to 12 years in prison with asset confiscation

Law enforcement officers in the Pechersk district of Kyiv arrested a 50-year-old taxi driver who, in addition to transporting passengers, was engaged in the illegal sale of narcotic substances and mushrooms of unknown origin. During a check on one of the streets in the district, police stopped a Toyota vehicle driven by a man working as a taxi driver.

Discovery of Prohibited Substances During the Search

After inspecting the vehicle, law enforcement officers found polyethylene bags containing amphetamines and cannabis, scales, mobile phones, envelopes for packaging drugs, and about 12,000 hryvnias in cash. Investigators established that the arrested individual from the Kyiv region combined his official work as a taxi driver with the illegal sale of drugs, which he personally delivered to clients or sent through postal offices.

Search at the Suspect’s Residence and Seizure of Substances

During a search at the suspect’s home, a bag of dried mushrooms of unknown origin, as well as powdery substances and plants, were found and seized. All discovered substances have been sent for expert examination.
