The Indictment Has Been Submitted to the Court
Prosecutors from the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office have completed the pre-trial investigation and sent the indictment regarding the mentioned officials to the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv. They are suspected of abusing their official positions to embezzle budget funds.
Details of the Case and Possible Punishment
“The officials, using their official positions, directed nearly 1.3 million UAH towards the renovation of a private building using budget funds. The pre-trial investigation established that two officials ordered and paid for the renovation of the facade and other repair works in an office building on Borysa Hrinchenka Street in Kyiv. At that time, the building had already been removed from municipal ownership and belonged to private individuals,” the statement reads.
The investigation found that the officials ordered and paid for the renovation of the office building on Borysa Hrinchenka Street, which was no longer owned by the Kyiv community but belonged to private individuals. Nearly 1.3 million hryvnias from the city budget were spent on these works.
A criminal proceeding has been opened under an article that provides for imprisonment of up to twelve years. There is also a possibility of additional punishment in the form of a ban on holding certain positions or engaging in relevant activities for a period of up to three years, as well as the confiscation of property.
