Sanctions against drone production participants

Zelensky noted that these are entities engaged in the production of drones for the Russian Federation, as well as those organizing the recruitment of citizens from North African and Middle Eastern countries. According to him, these individuals used fraudulent methods to send migrants to the front. The President emphasized that Ukrainian intelligence services have been investigating this issue for a long time, and new decisions and further sanctions from Britain are expected in May.

“They used fraudulent methods to send citizens from North African and Middle Eastern countries to the front. Our intelligence has been studying this issue for a long time, so there will be new decisions in this direction and further sanctions from Britain this month.”

International cooperation to deter aggression

On May 5, the British government announced the imposition of sanctions against 35 individuals and organizations suspected of involvement in recruiting migrants for the war on the side of Russia and supplying components for drone production. Among those listed are individuals and companies from third countries, including Thailand and China, which provided Russia with critically important components for drones and other military equipment.

UK Sanctions Minister Stephen Dowty emphasized that these restrictions are aimed at stopping the activities of those who transport migrants as cannon fodder and supply Russian enterprises with illegal parts for attacks on the Ukrainian civilian population and infrastructure. Special attention in the sanctions is given to the Russian program “Alabuga Start,” which is engaged in drone production at enterprises already subjected to British restrictions.

According to the British government, using vulnerable people to support Russia’s war in Ukraine is a heinous crime. The United Kingdom, together with international partners, continues to implement sanctions to weaken the Russian military-industrial complex and prevent its further aggression.
