A Therapeutic Garden for Veterans to Open in Kyiv at VDNH

На ВДНГ відкриють терапевтичний сад для ветеранів

The first plants have already been planted on the territory of the VDNH exhibition center in the capital for the future therapeutic garden, which is planned to open in August 2025. This location will become a new space for the rehabilitation and relaxation of veterans, as well as anyone interested. This was reported by the Office of the President of Ukraine.

Goals and Functions of the Therapeutic Garden

According to the statement, this project is being implemented by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs in collaboration with VDNH as part of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Space in Ukraine, initiated by First Lady Olena Zelenska. The therapeutic garden will combine various forms of therapy: horticultural, somatic, and art therapy, and will also feature areas for individual relaxation and a zone for children.

“This space is about dignity. The dignity of a person returning from the front or recovering from trauma. About the dignity of our society – to be there, to create conditions that help. Interaction with nature is one of the proven and effective practices in recovery. Such a space should be created in every city, every community. And today we are taking the first step,” noted Olena Zelenska.

It is known that specialists will work with military personnel, veterans, and their families, and the garden will also be open to all who wish, making it accessible to a wide range of people.

Future Appearance and Scaling

During the presentation, the organizers showed the concept and layout of the future garden, as well as a visualization of its appearance. The idea is that this project could serve as a model for scaling across the country, including hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and public spaces. This will allow the practices of healing and recovery through nature and art therapy to be spread among a larger number of Ukrainians.
