Трамп заявив, що Росія хоче успіху України і згадав про дешевий газ

U.S. President Donald Trump made a bold statement that Russia is interested in Ukraine’s success and may assist in its reconstruction. According to Trump, Moscow is allegedly ready to help Ukraine, particularly in the energy sector, and to provide energy resources at low prices.

“Russia will help (rebuild Ukraine). Russia wants to see Ukraine succeed. This may sound a bit strange, but Putin is sincere and generous in his desire for Ukraine’s success, particularly in energy, the sale of energy resources, and other low-cost supplies,” Trump told reporters.

Context of Donald Trump’s Statement

Trump’s statement came against the backdrop of massive Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, which are causing significant damage to the country’s energy system. These events are occurring during a period of complex international negotiations regarding ways to restore and support Ukraine.

Negotiations in the U.S. and Analysts’ Reactions

A meeting between Ukrainian and American delegations in the U.S. lasted over two hours. Immediately afterward, negotiations took place between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Donald Trump, and European leaders. According to Trump, he had a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin the day before, which he described as “good and very productive.” It is expected that the leaders of the U.S. and Russia plan another phone call after summarizing the meeting with Zelensky.

Analysts from the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) note that the Kremlin is effectively rejecting key points of various peace initiatives, including the initial U.S. peace proposal consisting of 28 points. Among the rejected demands are providing Ukraine with reliable security guarantees and issues related to territorial exchanges. This information is included in the ISW report dated December 17.
