Purpose of the Agreement and Next Steps
According to Svyrydenko, the parties are actively working on creating an Investment Fund for the reconstruction of Ukraine. The agreement will open new opportunities for attracting investments, modernizing infrastructure, and developing partnerships between the countries. The minister emphasized that “we affirm the American people’s desire to invest together with the Ukrainian people in a free, sovereign, and secure Ukraine”.
The next step will be to finalize the text of the agreement, its signing, and ratification by the parliaments of both countries. This is an important step towards deepening economic cooperation and implementing joint projects.
Context and Future Prospects
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the agreement on minerals is already prepared and is expected to be signed soon. At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted in a briefing that the memorandum could be signed today, and technical teams from both countries have been actively working on the details of the mineral agreement.
“We agreed to formalize these achievements in the corresponding memorandum of intent and to complete the formalization of the agreement soon”
Svyrydenko added that Ukrainian and American specialists have worked thoroughly on the details of the agreement aimed at cooperation in the field of minerals and natural resources.
Meanwhile, earlier this month, Trump stated that he expects the signing of the minerals agreement next Thursday, and Zelensky confirmed that the U.S. is preparing a new draft agreement, offering Ukraine a “large” agreement right away.
