“There will be no pauses in the pressure on Russia, particularly on international platforms, as long as the terrorist state is firmly set on conducting its genocidal aggressive war.”
Extraordinary OSCE Debates to Take Place on January 15
The meeting will take place on January 15 at the request of the Ukrainian side. The agenda includes discussions on the recent Russian missile strikes on Ukrainian territory, as well as the Russian Federation’s disregard for peace initiatives proposed under the leadership of the United States. As the Foreign Minister emphasized, the date of the debates coincides with the inaugural meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council, which will be chaired by Switzerland in 2026.
Ukraine’s Position and Events at the UN
Andriy Sybiga stressed the need for all participating states of the OSCE to recognize the real scale and threats posed by Russia’s war against Ukraine to European stability, sovereignty, territorial integrity, freedom, and the lives of people.
Currently, the OSCE has not officially announced the holding of this meeting. At the same time, an inaugural meeting chaired by Switzerland has already been scheduled for January 15, during which the country’s Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis will present the organization’s program for 2026.
On January 12, at Ukraine’s initiative, a meeting of the United Nations Security Council was convened following a massive strike by Russia on the night of January 9. During this attack, a ballistic missile “Oreshnik” was used against the Lviv region, among other targets.
