President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the intensification of negotiations between Ukraine and countries in the Middle East and Asia regarding the strengthening of security in the region. In his evening address on April 11, he noted that he expects a report from the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov, on the results of negotiations with Middle Eastern countries, the Persian Gulf, and adjacent regions concerning the export of Ukrainian “security capabilities.”

Ukrainian Experts are Assisting Countries in the Middle East
According to the president, all partners view Ukraine’s initiative positively, emphasizing that it genuinely strengthens security in the region. Zelensky stressed that initial agreements have already been reached, which are currently being prepared, and the Secretary of the NSDC is already working on finalizing drafts of the relevant agreements.
“Virtually all partners perceive this as a success for Ukraine and speak of it – that Ukraine is genuinely adding security. There is interest in Asia regarding this, and initial agreements are already in progress. This certainly strengthens Ukraine as well. Right now, Rustem Umerov is already in Ukraine – coordinating the drafts of the agreements.”
Separately, Zelensky emphasized that Kyiv maintains constant contact with the United States and is preparing a series of important measures in cooperation with European partners in the coming weeks.
Ukraine is Expanding Countermeasures Against Iranian Drones in the Region
Earlier, the president noted that Ukrainian specialists have already participated in downing Iranian “Shahed” drones in several countries in the Middle East. In early March, Zelensky stated that Ukraine is ready to assist countries in the region in defending against Iranian attacks, deploying its experts directly on the ground. As of mid-March, 201 Ukrainian specialists in countering Iranian drones were working in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf.
