Ukraine to Receive Mirage Fighters and Air Defense Missiles from Partners – Zelensky

«щойно тиск ослаб, росіяни почали намагатися зістрибнути з дипломатії»

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated that international support is strengthening in response to Russia’s massive strikes on critical infrastructure. According to him, countering these attacks should become a joint effort for Kyiv and partner states.

New Assistance from France, the United Kingdom, and Other Countries

Zelensky emphasized that important negotiations took place over the past week with European leaders. In particular, he mentioned a conversation with the Chancellor of Germany and consultations with other European partners regarding the supply of Patriot systems. Additionally, Ukraine will receive extra Mirage fighters and air defense missiles from France. The United Kingdom will continue to assist Ukrainian forces with missiles and support in the production of interceptor drones.

“This week, we have moved closer to the necessary decisions: I had a conversation with the Chancellor of Germany, and we are also speaking with some other partners in Europe regarding the Patriots. I want to separately thank the UK and France – there is a decision from France regarding additional Mirage fighters for Ukraine and missiles for air defense; the UK will continue to help us with air defense as well – also with missiles and in the production of interceptor drones – thank you for that. There are also new decisions regarding contributions to the PURL program from Finland and Spain. This program is aimed at purchasing American weapons – the same missiles for the Patriots – emphasized the head of state.

Scale of Attacks and International Reaction

According to the president, in just the past week, Russian troops launched nearly 1,200 strike drones and 50 missiles of various types at Ukraine, most of which were ballistic. Russian forces systematically employ various types of weaponry – strike UAVs, missiles, guided aerial bombs, and multiple launch rocket systems – to attack Ukrainian regions.

Despite denials from the leadership of the Russian Federation, Ukrainian authorities and international organizations emphasize that strikes on civilian infrastructure, which result in casualties among the civilian population and the destruction of hospitals, schools, kindergartens, energy, and water supply facilities, are targeted in nature. Such actions are classified as war crimes.
