Україна все ще очікує від РФ меморандуму до переговорів у Стамбулі – Сибіга на зустрічі з Фіданом

Among the key topics of discussion were issues of supporting Ukraine in ensuring peace, as well as countering Russian attacks on the country’s energy infrastructure.

Strengthening International Support and Energy Cooperation

During the negotiations, particular attention was paid to preparations for the winter period. Sybiha emphasized that Russia, having failed to achieve success on the battlefield, is trying to use winter as a tool to pressure the Ukrainian population by carrying out targeted attacks that deprive people of access to electricity and water. He stressed the need to unite efforts to counter these threats, particularly by enhancing urgent energy assistance to Ukraine.

“Unable to achieve results on the battlefield, Moscow is trying to use winter as a weapon against Ukrainians, deliberately depriving people of electricity and water. We can resist this terror together by strengthening support for Ukraine, including urgent energy assistance.”

The minister welcomed Canada’s active role in chairing the G7 and expressed hope for decisive actions regarding the provision of additional equipment, energy resources, and air defense systems to Ukraine. He also thanked for the invitation extended to Ukrainian Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk to the G7 energy ministers’ meeting, which will take place in October in Toronto.

Sanctions and International Initiatives in Support of Ukraine

Andrii Sybiha reported that among the issues discussed during the conversation were further strengthening of sanctions pressure on Russia, as well as the use of frozen Russian assets to finance defense needs and the reconstruction of Ukraine. He expressed special gratitude to the Canadian government for its leadership in the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children.

Furthermore, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister thanked his Canadian counterpart for the invitation to the upcoming G7 foreign ministers’ meeting and expressed hope for the adoption of further important decisions in support of our country.

Anita Anand shared Sybiha’s message but refrained from additional comments regarding the content of the meeting.

It is known that the next meeting of the G7 foreign ministers is scheduled for November 11 and will take place in Ontario.
