Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the United States has made an official request to Ukraine for “specific support” in defending against Iranian “Shahed” drones in Middle Eastern countries. According to Zelensky, Ukraine is ready to provide the necessary resources and involve Ukrainian specialists to enhance security in the region.

Recently, Zelensky announced that Ukrainian experts are already preparing to work directly in Middle Eastern countries. Negotiations are currently underway to organize this assistance. The President emphasized that Ukraine has military capabilities to aid in protecting civilians, stabilizing the situation, and restoring safe navigation in the region.
At present, the U.S. administration has not officially commented on the information regarding such a request. Meanwhile, experts note that such cooperation could strengthen Ukraine’s position on the international stage.
Experts’ Analysis on Military Assistance
Military analyst Valentyn Badrak believes that the involvement of Ukrainian specialists in countering Iranian drones in the Persian Gulf could positively impact Ukraine’s strategic prospects. He highlighted the importance of integrating Kyiv into the European space and taking joint actions with European partners. According to him, this will allow Ukraine to gain access to modern technologies and licenses for missile production, such as Patriot and Aster for SAMP/T NG systems, which will enhance the country’s defense capabilities.
The USA and Israel launched a military operation against Iran on February 28 in response to attacks from Tehran, which targeted Israel and American military facilities in the Persian Gulf region. As a result, not only military but also civilian facilities in several countries in the region are under threat.
