Ukrainian Experts to Head to the Middle East to Assist in Defense Against Iranian Attacks

Путін не хоче зупиняти війну, але «не хоче» не означає «не зробить»

A Ukrainian delegation of experts will arrive in the Middle East next week to help countries in the region strengthen their defenses against attacks from Iran. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky during a joint press conference with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten, who visited Kyiv on his first official trip.

Plans for Cooperation with Gulf Countries

Zelensky stated that the first group of Ukrainian experts will head to the Gulf countries on March 9. According to him, there will be several such groups, and they will provide practical assistance on-site to enhance the defense capabilities of the states in the region.

“If we are talking about increasing certain resources, we would very much like this to be a possibility on both sides. You know about the shortage of certain resources on our end, and we understand the shortages that exist in the Gulf countries. So we are discussing this track as well. It is still too early to talk about other details. Next week, when the experts are on-site, they will assess and assist, as they are coming with capabilities right away,” said Zelensky.

Equipment Supply and International Interest

The President emphasized that Ukraine is ready to supply means for destroying drones, but only those that are not used by its own defense forces. He noted that countries in the region are showing significant interest in Ukrainian technologies, but the priority remains to meet the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Earlier, on March 4, Zelensky announced that Ukraine is preparing to assist Middle Eastern countries in defending against Iranian attacks, and negotiations are already underway regarding the deployment of Ukrainian experts on-site.

The Financial Times reported that among the potential buyers of Ukrainian interceptor drones capable of shooting down Iranian “Shaheds” are the United States and one of the Gulf countries. At the same time, the President of Ukraine proposed a format of “quiet exchange” to regional partners — Ukraine provides assistance, and in return, expects to receive missiles for air defense systems.
