The United States government has agreed for the first time to provide military assistance to Ukraine, which will be financed by NATO allies rather than the American budget. This was reported by sources citing two independent reports.

New Support Scheme for Ukraine
According to information that has emerged in the media, U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense Elbridge Colby approved two separate military assistance packages, each worth 500 million dollars. Among the weapons planned to be transferred to Kyiv, air defense systems hold a special place.
“Under President Joe Biden’s administration, the U.S. primarily supplied weapons to Kyiv at its own expense. Donald Trump stated that he would no longer provide weapons for free, which jeopardized Ukraine’s defense capabilities.”
Funding Distribution and Decision-Making
There has been no official confirmation of this information from the Pentagon, and the U.S. Department of Defense is refraining from commenting. It is known that the new support format involves financing military assistance through other NATO member countries. Ukraine will determine the priority types of weapons included in the 500 million dollar assistance packages, while the issue of funding each such package will be decided among the allies.
It should be noted that agreements regarding this approach were announced back in July. Since then, the principle of providing military assistance has changed — instead of free supplies from the U.S., funding is now provided by European and other Alliance partners.
