The USA is Changing the Mechanism for Supplying Weapons to Ukraine
The United States of America will supply military equipment and weapons to Ukraine through the mechanisms of the North Atlantic Alliance. This was announced by US President Donald Trump, revealing details of the new support scheme for Ukrainian defense.
Weapons for Ukraine: NATO’s Role and Funding Conditions
“We are sending weapons to NATO, and NATO is paying for these weapons 100%. So here’s what we do: the weapons that are supplied go to NATO, and then NATO will provide these weapons (to Ukraine), and NATO will pay for these weapons,” said Donald Trump.
According to the American president, all supplies will be carried out through NATO, which will fully reimburse the cost of the armaments. This means that the USA transfers weapons to the Alliance, and then NATO organizes the transfer of military aid to Ukraine, covering all expenses.
The First Deliveries Under the New Procedure
According to information obtained from sources within the US presidential administration, Donald Trump plans to provide military assistance to Ukraine for the first time since returning to office, using his presidential powers. This approach was previously actively utilized by former President Joe Biden. The new format of cooperation allows for a faster and more efficient provision of the necessary weapons to the Ukrainian army, while also engaging NATO’s financial resources.
