The planned visit will focus not only on political and military solidarity but also on international cooperation. The Belgian representatives intend to hold talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Meetings with Ukrainian Colleagues

After the meeting with the president, Maxim Prevot plans to meet with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna.

Prior to this, Prevot had already met with Kuleba in Brussels, where the Ukrainian minister emphasized the urgent need to provide “very specific assistance to broken families, children, and orphans.”

“Belgium ranks among the top twenty largest donor countries per capita. Since the beginning of the large-scale Russian invasion, our country has provided over 2.2 billion euros in aid to Ukraine. Of this amount, 150 million euros has been allocated directly for reconstruction under the BE-Relieve program,” the ministry notes.

Assessment of Ukraine’s Recovery Needs

According to a February report from the World Bank, the Ukrainian government, the European Commission, and the UN, the recovery needs of the country over the next decade are estimated at 524 billion dollars. This is due to the significant damages caused by Russia’s aggression.
