Volodymyr Zelensky Begins Official Visit to Syria to Strengthen Security and Cooperation

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Syria on Sunday, April 5, for an official visit. His aim is to enhance Ukrainian diplomacy as well as to develop security and economic cooperation between the countries.

Meetings in Damascus: Diplomatic Agenda

During his stay in Damascus, Zelensky is set to hold a series of important negotiations, during which new formats of cooperation are planned to be discussed. According to the president, the agenda includes issues of real security and economic interaction, which are key in the current situation.

“Today in Damascus. We continue our active Ukrainian diplomacy for the sake of real security and economic interaction. Important meetings lie ahead – several substantive formats have been prepared. Every nation, every region deserves a peaceful life,” the president noted.

Preliminary Negotiations in Turkey

On the eve of this visit, on April 4, Volodymyr Zelensky visited Istanbul, where he held talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and also met with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. These meetings were part of a broader diplomatic mission by the head of state aimed at strengthening international ties and supporting peace in the region.
