Personnel Changes to Strengthen Defense Capability
As reported by the head of state, a number of personnel decisions aimed at strengthening the country’s defense were agreed upon during the meeting. In particular, the candidacy of a new deputy commander of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was approved. The main task of the newly appointed official will be to develop the small air defense system.
“This includes (the approval of – ed.) the candidacy of a new deputy commander of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who will be responsible for the small air defense system,” Zelensky stated.
The new deputy commander will focus on transforming the use of interceptors, improving the operation of mobile fire groups, and other units to enhance the effectiveness of countering air threats.
Audit of Army Supplies and Technology Development
The second important issue of the meeting was the audit of weapon and equipment supplies for the troops. Zelensky emphasized that each combat brigade must receive a guaranteed number of drones to carry out tasks on the front line.
Additionally, the president stressed the need to continue developing a technological control system for the battlefield situation. This involves implementing tools for operational analysis of enemy strikes and the effectiveness of Ukrainian combat operations.
On January 14, the Verkhovna Rada supported the appointment of Mykhailo Fedorov as Minister of Defense. Following his appointment, Volodymyr Zelensky identified among the main priorities of the Ministry of Defense the implementation of a basic level of drone supply for combat brigades and conducting an audit of defense sector funding.
