Zelensky Approved New Sanctions Against Individuals Supporting Russia’s Aggression

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced the implementation of another package of sanctions aimed at individuals who justify the aggression of the Russian Federation and are used by the Kremlin for propaganda purposes. The Ukrainian head of state made this statement in his video address.

New Sanction Decisions and Their Coordination

Zelensky reported that the next steps to strengthen sanctions have already been agreed upon, and more detailed decisions will be announced soon. The President emphasized the need to maintain pressure on Russia, as well as the importance of synchronizing sanctions with international partners. Special attention is being paid to aligning Ukrainian sanction decisions with the lists of other states, which enhances their effectiveness in countering Russian aggression.

“Pressure on Russia must be maintained, and we will continue to work on synchronizing sanctions, not only the decisions of partners within our jurisdiction but also Ukrainian sanction decisions in the lists of partners. Already, a significant portion of the personal sanctions of partners, as well as those against legal entities, consists of proposals from Ukraine,” noted the Ukrainian president.

The EU and Western Countries Intensify Pressure on Russia

On October 23, the European Union approved its nineteenth package of sanctions against Russia. The new restrictions target key sources of income for the aggressor country, particularly through energy, financial, and trade measures. An important part of the sanctions is the gradual ban on the import of liquefied natural gas: for short-term contracts – in six months, and for long-term contracts – starting January 1, 2027.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the United States, along with its partners, has also imposed a series of sanctions aimed at limiting Moscow’s ability to wage war by cutting off access to Western technologies and financial resources.

Despite numerous restrictions, Russia continues to find ways to circumvent sanctions and obtain foreign components, complicating the complete blockade of its military-industrial complex.
