Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized in his evening address that the negotiations in Swiss Geneva allowed for the development of a peace plan variant that significantly better aligns with Ukraine’s interests. According to the head of state, many important aspects for Ukraine have been taken into account in the proposed framework.

“There is still much work to be done together, it is very challenging to create the final document, and we must do everything with dignity. We appreciate that the majority of the world is ready to help us and that the American side is being constructive. In fact, there were meetings all day yesterday; it was a difficult, extremely detailed process. Today, the entire day is dedicated to coordination with our partners in Europe… Ukraine is not alone, and that is important. Our team reported today on the new draft steps, and this is indeed the right approach – sensitive matters, sensitive issues I will discuss with President (Donald) Trump,” said the head of state.
Coordination with International Partners
Zelensky stressed the complexity of reaching a final version of the peace plan and the importance of constructive participation from the global community, especially the United States and European partners. Over the course of two days, detailed work and meetings were held aimed at reconciling all key positions. The president noted that Ukraine is receiving significant support, and all important and sensitive issues are being thoroughly discussed at the highest level.
Security Situation and Readiness Requirements
Separately, the president urged Ukrainian citizens to remain vigilant regarding potential threats of aerial attacks. Zelensky warned that Russia will not reduce pressure on Ukraine and its citizens, and he emphasized the readiness of defense forces to respond promptly to any challenges.
Information about the existence of a 28-point peace plan surfaced in the media last week. Subsequently, the United States confirmed the existence of a peace initiative, although the authenticity of the published document was not officially verified. Some media outlets and members of the U.S. Congress speculated about the possible involvement of Russian representatives in the development of the plan. The U.S. State Department categorically denied this, stating that the document was created in the U.S. and takes into account proposals from both Ukraine and Russia.
The Geneva meeting of representatives from the U.S., Ukraine, the EU, and leading European states was dedicated to discussing U.S. proposals and seeking consensus on issues that raise concerns among EU and Ukrainian countries. Among the points of discussion were possible territorial concessions to Russia, limitations on the size of the Ukrainian army, and the question of Ukraine’s refusal to join NATO.
