Trump’s Statement on Agreements with Russia

On January 29, Donald Trump announced that he had reached out to Russian President Vladimir Putin, asking him to refrain from attacks on Ukrainian cities for at least a week due to severe weather conditions. According to Trump, Putin agreed to his request, which was an important signal for the safety of the Ukrainian population during this critical period.

“And I personally asked President Putin not to bombard Kyiv and other cities for a week. He agreed. And I must say, that was very pleasant,” Trump stated.

However, the Russian side has not officially confirmed the existence of such agreements. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian authorities are closely monitoring the situation and preparing for possible scenarios.

Energy Supply Situation and Potential New Attacks

Ukraine is currently experiencing severe cold, with meteorologists predicting a significant drop in temperature from February 1 to 3, and a relief from the cold is expected only after February 4. Against the backdrop of the previous cold wave, Russia launched another attack on energy infrastructure, leading to the declaration of a state of emergency in the country.

In particular, the situation in Kyiv and the Kyiv region remains the most challenging. According to local authorities, as of the morning of January 29, 613 apartment buildings out of nearly six thousand have been left without heating due to the Russian attack on the capital’s critical infrastructure on January 24.

Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the importance of support from international partners regarding energy security and the protection of civilians. The President also called for the fulfillment of the agreements reached and stressed the need for further actions to de-escalate and end the war.

On the eve, President Zelensky warned that, according to Ukrainian intelligence, Russia may be preparing new strikes on Ukrainian territory. Thus, the issues of security and the protection of energy infrastructure remain a priority for the country in the coming days.
