Details of the Military Plan
According to journalists, over the next two weeks, military leaders from Britain and France intend to agree on the details of the “coalition of the willing” operations, which, under European leadership, will ensure the security of Ukraine’s airspace, coastline, and land, as well as the restoration of its armed forces. The defense ministers of Britain, John Healey, and France, Sébastien Lecornu, expressed hope that these actions will demonstrate Europe’s seriousness in investing its own resources in Ukraine’s post-war future.
International Support
Lecornu noted that 30 countries in the coalition, including Canada, Australia, Japan, and New Zealand, have been asked about their readiness to provide military support. Of the 30 participants, 15 have already expressed their willingness to send their forces, including aircraft and naval vessels. However, the number of countries that have officially committed to sending troops remains uncertain.
“Western contingents in Ukraine, proposed by the ‘coalition of the willing’, will not be stationed on the front line but will operate at strategic points in the peace zone as security support forces,” stated French President Emmanuel Macron.
On April 10, the first meeting of defense ministers from 30 countries in the format of the ‘coalition of the willing’, initiated by France and Britain in February, took place at NATO headquarters in Brussels. On March 27 in Paris, leaders from 27 countries discussed possible guarantees for Ukraine following a potential ceasefire, including the deployment of coalition forces on its territory.
