Call to the international community for increased response
Minister Sybiha emphasized the need for a decisive response from the global community to the latest attacks by the Russian Federation. He stressed that Ukraine and its partners must act in unison and noted that the country requires additional air defense systems and missiles. Sybiha expressed confidence in Ukraine’s future membership in the European Union.
“Clear signals are needed to Moscow that we are united, that we will respond firmly, that Ukraine will receive additional air defense packages and missiles, and that Ukraine will definitely be a member of the EU. At these strike sites, we clearly see how the enemy responds to Ukraine’s and its allies’ peaceful efforts,” the minister stated, addressing foreign diplomats.
Sybiha emphasized that to counter aggression, it is necessary to increase international pressure on Moscow.
Consequences of the massive attack on Kyiv
On the night of May 24, Ukraine experienced one of the largest attacks from Russia. Russian forces used about 600 drones of various types and 90 missiles launched from air, sea, and ground, with Kyiv being the main target of the strike. As a result of the shelling across the country, four people were killed, and around a hundred others were injured.
In Kyiv, two people were killed as a result of the Russian attacks. Damage has been recorded at over 40 sites in various districts of the capital: Shevchenkivskyi, Darnytskyi, Desnianskyi, Obolonskyi, and Holosiivskyi. Both apartment buildings and private houses, shopping centers, educational institutions, a market, administrative buildings of the State Emergency Service and police, as well as the National Museum of Chernobyl were damaged.
The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that the goal of the massive strike was allegedly “military command facilities, air bases, and enterprises of Ukraine’s defense industry,” including the use of ballistic missiles “Oreshnik.”
