Exhibition on the Kyiv Principality and Its European Significance

On December 15, the National Preserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” will open an exhibition titled “The Kyiv Principality of the 14th-15th Centuries: The Ukrainian Factor in European Security.” Visitors will have the opportunity to explore a period that has been overlooked by many historical studies and learn how Ukrainian lands influenced political processes in Europe.

The Importance of the Period Between Rus and Cossackdom

The organizers of the exhibition emphasize the significance of the period between the era of Kyivan Rus – Ukraine and the Cossack period. These chapters of history have often been subjected to distortion and attempts at erasure by the Muscovites, as they demonstrate the intrinsic connection of Ukrainian lands to the European political space.

“Between the era of Kyivan Rus – Ukraine and Cossackdom lies a period that the Muscovites have tried for centuries to erase and distort. It is this period that proves that Ukrainian lands were an integral part of the European political space,” the preserve notes on its Facebook page.

The exhibition will serve as a platform for rethinking the role of the Kyiv Principality in the establishment of Ukrainian statehood and its impact on European security.
