Causes of the Explosion and Response from City Authorities

The city authorities promptly denied information about an accident at CHPP-6. According to an official statement from the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, the incident occurred in a hangar of a commercial enterprise where a tank exploded. As a result of the incident, power supply was temporarily cut off in residential buildings on several streets of the left bank of the capital. The fire has been localized, and there is no longer a threat to residents.

Operation of CHPP-6 and the Energy Supply Situation

Representatives of “Kyivteploenergo” emphasized that CHPP-6 is functioning normally. The enterprise has not sustained any damage, and there are no explosions or fires on its territory. All consumers receiving electricity from this station are provided with the necessary level of energy supply.

“The incident with the fire occurred at an enterprise outside the territory of CHPP-6. The station’s equipment is operating normally, and there are no explosions or fires on the territory of the thermal power plant. There are no power outages for consumers receiving electricity from the station. There is also no threat to the energy supply of Kyiv.”

Experts emphasize that the energy system of the capital is currently not under threat, and the situation is fully under control.
