Main Topics of Negotiations

According to Tofano, the IMF mission led by Gavin Gray is consulting with the Ukrainian authorities and other partners. The main focus of these meetings is on assessing the fulfillment of the conditions of the extended funding program, as well as discussing macroeconomic policy and key structural reforms necessary for the country’s further development.

“The IMF mission led by Gavin Gray is starting meetings today with representatives of the Ukrainian government and other partners in the context of the first review of the extended funding program and consultations for 2026 under Article IV of the IMF Agreements,” Tofano stated.

Financial Support for Ukraine

At the beginning of March, Ukraine received the first tranche of funds from the IMF under the new four-year funding program. In February of this year, the IMF Board of Directors approved an extended funding program for Ukraine amounting to 8.1 billion US dollars. These funds are intended to help the country maintain macroeconomic stability and continue implementing structural reforms.

Currently, representatives of the Ukrainian government have not commented on the meetings with the IMF mission.
