In Kyiv, a 32-year-old man was sentenced to seven years in prison for robbing an elderly woman in the capital’s metro. The crime occurred in August 2024 in a train car on the blue line of the metro.
Circumstances of the Metro Robbery
During the pre-trial investigation, it was established that the perpetrator, while in the metro car, approached a 72-year-old pensioner and forcibly took a notebook from her, which contained 1,500 hryvnias. After that, he left the scene, attempting to evade responsibility.
“During the investigation, law enforcement established that the perpetrator, while in the train car of the blue line of the metro, took a notebook containing 1,500 hryvnias from the 72-year-old woman and fled. The police quickly identified the suspect – a 32-year-old local resident previously convicted for drug offenses. He was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine,” the statement said.
Court Ruling and the Suspect’s Future
During the investigation, the man was in custody. He was charged with committing a crime under part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — robbery committed under martial law. The court found the man guilty and sentenced him to seven years in prison.
