Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity of Ukraine Olexiy Chernyshov categorically rejected information regarding the possible dissolution of the ministry he leads. He made this statement after a meeting of the High Anti-Corruption Court, which on July 2 ruled not to satisfy the prosecutor’s request for his suspension from official duties.

Chernyshov on His Position Regarding the Allegations

“We continue to work, and in the case being considered, I am confident that we will sort it out; the court will provide its objective assessment.”

Media speculated about the possible merger of the Ministry of National Unity with another government structure and Chernyshov’s dismissal as part of a potential government reshuffle. In response to these reports, the minister stated that such rumors are unfounded, and he continues to fulfill his duties.

Criminal Proceedings and Financial Issues

Olexiy Chernyshov acknowledged that his reputation has suffered a serious blow due to the initiated case. According to him, he will do everything possible to protect his name and prove the unfounded nature of the accusations while remaining in office and working for the country.

Regarding the bail set at 120 million hryvnias, the minister reported that he is currently forced to gather the necessary amount since his personal accounts have been blocked. The defense has filed an appeal against this decision, and today is the last day to submit the funds. If the bail is not posted, the prosecution will insist on a preventive measure of detention.

On June 23, detectives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and SAP prosecutors informed Chernyshov of the suspicion. He is suspected of abusing his official position and receiving illegal benefits in particularly large amounts for himself and third parties.

The investigation believes that the official may have illegally provided a land plot to one of the capital’s developers for the construction of a residential complex, at a significantly reduced price. In exchange, designated individuals by the minister were to receive discounts on apartments.

Olexiy Chernyshov became the sixth suspect in a large-scale case regarding a corruption scheme in the construction sector, which involves top officials of the country. The minister has repeatedly emphasized that the suspicion is unfounded, and he has no intention of resigning.
