U.S. President Donald Trump expressed dissatisfaction with Russia’s actions in the war against Ukraine and stated that he is losing patience with Moscow’s inaction regarding a peaceful resolution. This position was articulated by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in an interview with an American television channel.

Trump sets clear deadlines for peace

According to Rubio, Trump’s phone contacts with Russian President Vladimir Putin occur in a friendly atmosphere, but yield no results. The Secretary of State emphasized that Russia is deliberately dragging out the peace process, and Trump will not allow himself to be drawn into endless negotiations without concrete results.

“He (Trump) will not allow himself to be lured into this trap. He has no intention of engaging in endless talks about talks,” Rubio noted, reiterating that Trump, although not responsible for the start of the war, wants to end it.

On July 14, Donald Trump delivered a harsh criticism of Russia and Putin for their lack of steps towards achieving peace. The U.S. President set an ultimatum: 50 days to conclude a peace agreement regarding Ukraine. The deadline expires on September 3, 2025. If the demand is not met, Trump stated his readiness to impose extensive sanctions, including high tariffs on goods from Russia and countries that purchase energy resources from it.

New sanctions and support for Ukraine with weapons

Marco Rubio emphasized that without support from China, which is actively purchasing Russian oil, Putin would not withstand a prolonged conflict. Among other measures, Trump announced his readiness to supply American weapons to allies for further transfer to Ukraine. This initiative has already been supported by several countries, including Germany, which expressed a desire to join the scheme to support Ukraine.

The official reaction from Moscow to Trump’s statements remains restrained. The position of the Russian authorities has not changed: they claim readiness for peace, but only on terms that are viewed in Kyiv as capitulation. Among such demands is Ukraine’s renunciation of part of its territories, even those that Russia does not control or has never controlled.
