Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha held a “friendly and constructive dialogue” with Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevo during the recent visit of the Belgian delegation to Ukraine. Sybiha shared this information during a morning press conference.

During the meeting, the minister expressed gratitude to Belgium for the initiative to create a shelter for the lyceum in Baryshivka, Kyiv region, as well as for the active involvement of the Belgian agency Enabel in the reconstruction of Ukraine.
“We also agreed on further joint efforts to develop our bilateral cooperation, expand military and humanitarian support for Ukraine, and hold Russia accountable for its crimes on the path to a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace”

Belgium’s Assistance to Ukraine
According to the Foreign Ministry, the total amount of assistance that Belgium has provided to Ukraine has already exceeded 2 billion euros. Sybiha also expressed gratitude to Brussels for the recent announcement of a new defense assistance package worth 1 billion euros.
It is worth noting that prior to the visit of the Belgian delegation, Foreign Minister Maxime Prevo stated that “Belgium is among the top twenty largest donor countries per capita”. He emphasized the humanitarian aspect of the assistance, noting that “since the beginning of the large-scale Russian invasion, our country has provided Ukraine with over 2.2 billion euros in aid”. The main areas of this assistance include sustainable energy development, healthcare, and education.
Situation with F-16 Fighters
In March, Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever commented on the situation regarding the supply of F-16 fighters to Ukraine. He explained the delay in the transfer of these aircraft due to “technical issues” with acquiring newer F-35 fighters, but assured that “we will do this as soon as possible”.
