The U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, held a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The negotiations, which took place on April 11 in St. Petersburg, lasted more than four hours.

Information about the conclusion of the meeting was reported by Russian news agencies “RIA Novosti” and “Interfax,” which did not disclose the details of the discussions.
Purpose of the Meeting and Discussions
The meeting took place at the presidential library in St. Petersburg, and earlier the White House confirmed Witkoff’s visit, stating that it is part of diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire in Ukraine and concluding a peace agreement.
Russian President’s Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov mentioned that the parties would discuss “various aspects of the Ukrainian settlement” and the Kremlin hopes to convey “the main elements of Russia’s position and concerns” directly to U.S. President Donald Trump.
Preconditions for the Negotiations
It was also revealed today that Steve Witkoff plans to continue his mission in Russia. Before the negotiations with Putin, he met with Russian President’s advisor Kirill Dmitriev.
