A 16-year-old teenager tragically died at the ‘Vydubychi’ railway station in Kyiv after being electrocuted while on the roof of a commuter train.

Circumstances of the Railway Tragedy
According to preliminary information, the boy climbed onto the roof of the city commuter train, where he was struck by electricity from the overhead contact line. The injuries he sustained were incompatible with life, and the teenager died at the scene. An investigative team from the Holosiivskyi district and the main police department, as well as a forensic medical expert, were working at the site of the accident.
“According to preliminary information, the 16-year-old boy climbed onto the roof of the city commuter train and was electrocuted. The minor died from his injuries. An investigative team from the Holosiivskyi district and the main police department, along with a forensic medical expert, are on site,” the statement said.
Rescue Operations and Traffic Management
Employees of the State Emergency Service reported that rescuers had to wait for the power to be turned off from the overhead contact line before retrieving the body of the deceased. During the rescue operations, train traffic in this section was temporarily suspended.
According to information from Kyiv City Express, due to the incident, passenger boarding and alighting at the ‘Vydubychi’ station is temporarily being conducted on the third track.
