Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky insists on an immediate, complete, and unconditional ceasefire in the country. In his statement released on Telegram, he emphasized that such a proposal was put forward by the United States on March 11 of this year, and he believes in its implementation provided that Russian killings cease.

“We in Ukraine insist on an immediate, complete, and unconditional ceasefire. This was the absolutely correct proposal from the United States on March 11 of this year. It is entirely possible. But it is possible only if Russia agrees and stops the killings. On Easter, we achieved a reduction in the intensity of hostilities and the absence of air raid alerts.”
Zelensky also stressed that Ukraine proposed to extend the ceasefire for at least 30 days and to make this period completely safe for civilians. According to him, the main priority is to save lives and the necessity of joint efforts with international partners to achieve sustainable peace.
Negotiations in London and Possible Steps Towards Peace
These statements came during negotiations between the Ukrainian delegation and representatives from the U.S. and Europe in London. Initially, a meeting at the level of foreign ministers was planned, but it was later downgraded to a lower level. At the same time, according to the American publication The Wall Street Journal, Ukraine is under pressure to respond to a number of ideas from the Biden administration regarding the cessation of the war, including the possible recognition by Russia of the annexation of Crimea in 2014 and the exclusion of Ukraine from the list of candidates for NATO membership. Kyiv is expected to provide a response during the meeting in London.
It is also reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff in St. Petersburg, proposed to halt hostilities along the current front line, which could become one of the possible scenarios for ending the conflict.
