Зеленський запросив канцлера Німеччини відвідати Україну

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone conversation on January 27 with Austrian Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer. The key topic of discussion was the challenging situation in Ukraine’s energy sector, caused by regular strikes from the Russian Federation on energy infrastructure.

Cooperation on Energy Security

Zelensky emphasized the importance of support from international partners to ensure that Ukrainians have light and heat despite the attacks from Russia. The President thanked Austria for allocating funding to support the energy sector, which was announced last week. The parties also discussed additional ways for Austria to assist the Ukrainian energy system.

Dialogue on Security and Eurointegration

In addition to energy issues, the conversation also covered the trilateral consultations between representatives of Ukraine, the USA, and Russia that took place in Abu Dhabi. Volodymyr Zelensky highlighted the importance of Ukraine’s Eurointegration as a factor in guaranteeing security not only for the state but for all of Europe.

“Russia strikes at our energy sector daily to leave Ukrainians without light and heat, and it is crucial for our partners to respond to this. Therefore, we greatly appreciate that last week Austria allocated funds to support our energy sector,” he stated.

During the conversation, Zelensky invited Chancellor Karl Nehammer of Austria to visit Ukraine for a personal meeting and to continue the dialogue on further cooperation. As of now, the Austrian Chancellor has not yet commented on this invitation.

Austria remains one of the European countries providing support to Ukraine in the energy sector, responding to the difficult situation arising from Russian attacks on critical infrastructure.
