Can Ukrainian clothing brands compete effectively with foreign manufacturers and become popular among consumers?
This is reported by Kyiv24
Tetiana Vovk, co-founder of one of Ukraine’s leading women’s clothing manufacturers, confidently answers this question. In the studio of “Kashtan. Interview”, she shared her experience in developing her own business, the challenges faced by the industry during the war, and the journey she has taken over twelve years in the fashion industry.
From a Basement to a National Brand
Tetiana Vovk started her business in a small basement in Vyshhorod, and now, under her leadership, the VOVK brand has over 50 stores across Ukraine. The company takes pride in producing high-quality domestic products. As the designer notes, their example proves that the stereotype of low-quality Ukrainian goods is a thing of the past.
At the same time, Tetiana Vovk acknowledges that some entrepreneurs still try to conceal the Ukrainian origin of their products by choosing Italian or other “foreign” names. However, she is convinced that it is important to take pride in one’s own business and openly talk about the Ukrainian roots of the brand.
“There are brands that are afraid to say they are Ukrainian, that they are created here. They choose interesting names, under Italy or something else. But I positioned myself to say that this is created here,” emphasizes Ms. Tetiana.
Commitment to Customers and Growing Recognition
According to Tetiana Vovk, the popularity of the VOVK brand grows every year. Customers appreciate the quality of the products and the service: in case of any questions or misunderstandings, the administration is always willing to help customers.
The designer highlights that VOVK’s service is a model for many other companies. She points out that Ukrainian brands are increasingly valuing their customers. For instance, VOVK practices returns even a year or two after purchase, which is rare for most foreign manufacturers.
Tetiana Vovk is convinced that loyalty to customers and an honest approach to work allow Ukrainian brands to grow and gain recognition.
