Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in his evening address, spoke about the key outcomes of the day’s work with the military and intelligence. According to the head of state, he received several important reports, particularly regarding the effectiveness of sanctions aimed at Russia and individuals associated with it.
Ukrainian Drones Demonstrate Long Range
Zelensky thanked the Armed Forces, intelligence, and the Security Service of Ukraine for their effective actions at the front. He emphasized that Ukrainian drones regularly achieve their designated targets, which is evidence of the growing technological capabilities of the Ukrainian army.
Sanctions Against Russia and New Actions by Allies
The president paid special attention to the report from the Foreign Intelligence Service. According to Zelensky, sanctions against Russia are already causing significant economic damage, and this effect will only intensify. The president stressed the need for continued international pressure on Russia to prevent prolonged confrontation and deprive the aggressor country of the economic potential to wage war.
“The losses for the enemy – economic losses – are indeed noticeable. They will become even more pronounced. I want to thank everyone in the world who is helping. This is the moment to put pressure on Russia – to press so that there is no war next year. They must realize that they cannot endure this; the sanctions must truly diminish Russian potential. We are working for this purpose.”
Zelensky instructed the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council to intensify efforts to attract external funding for the development of drone technologies. The president also urged the government and the Minister of Defense of Ukraine to closely monitor the implementation of all existing agreements with international partners, and to report on the situation soon if there is insufficient progress.
In the context of increasing pressure on Russia, it became known that on July 14, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the possibility of imposing “harsh” tariffs against Russia if it does not agree to a ceasefire with Ukraine within 50 days. Furthermore, the White House stated that the tariffs would also apply to goods from those countries that purchase Russian oil.
