Cross-Negotiations Amid International Events

Earlier, just a few hours ago, President Zelensky met with U.S. President Donald Trump. This meeting, according to the Ukrainian leader, was symbolic and potentially historic, as issues regarding the cessation of war and peace in Ukraine were discussed. Zelensky noted in a Telegram message: “A good meeting. One-on-one, we managed to discuss a lot. We hope for results from all the points raised. Protecting the lives of our people. A complete and unconditional ceasefire. A reliable and lasting peace that will prevent the recurrence of war. A very symbolic meeting that has the potential to become historic if we achieve common results.”

The meeting at St. Peter’s Basilica lasted about 15 minutes. White House representatives reported that the discussions were “very productive,” but added that more detailed information would be available later. It is worth noting that after the conflict in February, when Trump and Zelensky did not have a personal meeting, this time the parties communicated directly again.

Donald Trump emphasized that his administration is eager for a swift ceasefire in Ukraine and the conclusion of a peace agreement, negotiating with both Russia and Ukraine.
