Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna arrived in Kyiv for an official visit, as he announced on the morning of October 27. Initially, the diplomat paid tribute to the Ukrainian soldiers who lost their lives defending the country from Russian aggression.

During his stay in the capital of Ukraine, Tsahkna met with Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha. The parties discussed the current situation on the front lines, the consequences of Russia’s terrorist attacks on the civilian population and energy infrastructure, as well as ways to enhance Ukraine’s resilience and increase international pressure on Moscow.
“We talked about the situation on the battlefield, Russia’s terror against civilians and energy infrastructure, ways to strengthen Ukraine’s resilience, and ramp up pressure on Moscow,” he stated.
Support for Ukraine and New Initiatives
During the talks, the ministers addressed issues related to the use of frozen Russian assets, accountability for the crime of aggression, Ukraine’s Euro-integration, post-war reconstruction, and deepening cooperation within the SAFE mechanism.
It was also noted that next year Estonia will chair the Nordic-Baltic Eight, and Ukraine has high expectations regarding this presidency in terms of cooperation. Andrii Sybiha thanked the Estonian side for providing 10 million euros under the PURL initiative, which will further strengthen the partnership between the countries.
