How Many Children Have Died Due to Russian Aggression: Data from Ukraine’s Juvenile Prosecutors

Number of Children Killed and Injured Since the Invasion

Since the onset of the full-scale aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, 631 children have died due to hostile actions. More than 1975 children have sustained injuries of varying degrees of severity.

“As of the morning of June 4, 2025, according to official information from juvenile prosecutors in Ukraine, 631 children have died as a result of the full-scale armed aggression by the Russian Federation. More than 1975 have sustained injuries of varying degrees of severity,” the statement reads.

Most Affected Regions

According to juvenile prosecutors, the highest number of affected children due to the actions of the occupiers is in the Donetsk region — 646 individuals. In the Kharkiv region, injuries or deaths have been recorded in 495 children, in Dnipropetrovsk — 242, in Kherson — 214, in Zaporizhzhia — 185, in Kyiv — 146, in Sumy — 142, and in Mykolaiv regions — 120.

Law enforcement officials emphasize that these figures are not final. Efforts are currently underway to clarify the number of child casualties in areas where combat is ongoing and in temporarily occupied territories.
