About the Festival and Ukrainian Participation

The “I-FEST” festival is the largest competition for young researchers and developers in Africa. As noted by the Ministry of Education and Science, “Ukraine was represented at the competition by 30 students from the Small Academy of Sciences from 14 regions. Eight of them presented mathematical projects, and the competition took place in eight categories: physics, social sciences, computer science, engineering, life sciences, environment, multimedia, and mathematics.”

Unique Scientific Project

Among the best projects of the festival was the work of Oleksandra Tabakova, a student of the Polytechnic Lyceum of NTUU “KPI,” who was awarded a gold medal. Her scientific supervisor is Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Dmytro Lande, head of the Department of Information Security at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Oleksandra has been analyzing unstructured data and researching the functioning of large language models for three years.

The main task that the researcher sets for herself is to create an easy-to-use tool for analyzing publications to identify key concepts. She believes that this technology can be useful in research across various fields, from marketing to combating disinformation.
